The Reading Room: Guides for Slow Readers of the Psyche and the Sky

Journaling guides and study companions for paid subscribers, where depth psychology meets the sky.

Every day since 2019, I’ve shared a quote on Instagram, and every week I’ve written a post that tries to answer the question, “What was that quote really pointing at?” The Reading Room is where readers who want to go further can do that work with a pen in hand.

These are short PDF guides, usually four pages, made to be printed, written in, spilled coffee on, and returned to. Each one takes an idea from my blog or from the sky and turns it into questions you can sit with. No jargon to decode, no prediction, no verdict about who you are. Think of them as a well-lit corner of a library, with a lamp and a few good questions left on the table.

What’s on the shelves

Astrology Journaling Guide: Mars-Pluto 2024–2027
A four-page guide for reflecting on two full Mars-Pluto cycles. Mars is what we do with our will, and Pluto is what we’d rather not look at. Together they ask what you’re willing to change and what you’re still gripping. Use it to notice how the last few years have actually moved through your life.

Tarot Cards for the Eight Personality Archetypes
A four-page guide pairing Beebe’s eight archetypes of the personality (Hero, Parent, Eternal Child, Anima/Animus, Opposing Personality, Critical Parent/Senex, Trickster, and Demon) with tarot cards that suit each one. It’s for readers who learn best through images, and who suspect their Trickster has opinions about their to-do list.

The Archetypes of ENTJ
A visual guide to the four main archetypes of the ENTJ type, as seen through John Beebe’s model of typology. It’s useful if you are an ENTJ, and just as useful if you live with, work for, or are fascinated by one.

Coming soon: Astrology Journaling Guide for the Mars-Uranus Square
Mars (action) meets Uranus (disruption) at a right angle. The guide will help you notice where you’re impatient, where something wants to break open, and how to tell the difference between a real awakening and a bad mood.

How it works

  1. Subscribe to my Substack as a paid member. Click here.
  2. Visit the Reading Room on Substack to download any guide, including everything already there.
  3. Print one, make a cup of tea, and begin. Nothing here has a deadline. The guides move at the pace of the seasons, not an inbox.

Paid members also get the daily chat, a second quote each day, offered in-app and not by email, for people who’d like a conversation along with their reading.

Who this is for

  • Readers who like to think with a pen
  • People who find Jung, astrology, and tarot useful as mirrors, not as answers
  • Anyone who has enjoyed my posts and wanted a way to do something with them
  • People who read slowly on purpose

Who this probably isn’t for

If you want to be told what’s going to happen next Tuesday, you’ll be happier elsewhere. The Reading Room runs on a different premise: that the sky and the psyche both offer good questions, and that the answers are yours to find.
